Expert opinion

Smart Band 11 is for people who want heart rate, sleep and daily activity from something that weighs about 15g. It has no built-in GPS, so outdoor runs and rides get no route, and pace will be a guess next to a GPS band or watch. Its most useful training feature is Bluetooth heart rate broadcast, which turns the band into a cheap optical sensor for a bike computer or an indoor training app. Underwater heart rate and a 5 ATM rating cover pool swims, and there are more than 150 sports modes. The health side is where it earns its place: a sleep assistant that learns what helps and hurts your sleep, all-day stress and blood oxygen, and menstrual tracking. There is no ANT+, no training load and no structured workouts. Battery is a claimed 10 days in normal use. Anyone who mostly runs outdoors should buy Smart Band 10 Pro or a GPS watch instead; this one suits sleep, health and notifications.

Battery life

Xiaomi claims up to 21 days in light use, 10 days in normal use, and 6 days with the always-on display. The normal-use figure includes all-day heart rate, high-precision sleep tracking, all-day stress and blood oxygen monitoring, and 60 minutes of recorded exercise a week. Several hours of training a week will bring that figure down, but a weekly charge should still be enough for most people. Light use assumes heart rate every 30 minutes with sleep, stress and blood oxygen tracking switched off, which removes most of what the band is bought for. A full charge on the magnetic cable takes about 90 minutes.
