Google recently agreed to buy Fitbit and I, and others speculated as to whether we would see the Fitbit brand continue. Would Fitbit be rebranded Google? or Fitbit by Google? or maybe Google didn’t want to buy Fitbit for the devices at all and was more interested in the patents and other IP, in which case there might be no more wearables.
Speculation aside today’s leak is of the Fitbit Charge 4 which comes with NFC. It’s ‘only’ a fitness band, so don’t get excited. Hey! it’s a slow news day.
Caution: MANY new products have been delayed because of Covid19. This may be one of those delayed. Retailers and FCC filers may have scheduled their content and filings a long time ago and simply forgot to change the date. My guess is that this was planned for now (ish) BUT THAT the real announcement won’t happen for some time.

Opinion
This is one for the upgraders who like the band format.
I personally DO LIKE the band format but the market is moving away from that.
Yes for GPS! Maybe this will push Garmin to release a Vivosport 2.
