myWhoosh – the impossible level?
More: myWhoosh review
I completed myWhoosh’s Endurance Climb last year, and from memory, about three people also completed it on the same day. Whether or not they were finessing their performance characteristics, I don’t know, as myWhoosh seems to attract a lot of very light, overly powerful riders. Completing over 2500m of climbing was an unpleasant but satisfying level (course). Many people with too much time on their hands could probably also complete it, but anything more challenging becomes significantly trickier.
So, imagine my shock when my Whoosh added Snowfall Mountain. It seems to be 13 ascents of the same climb, totalling 8,854 vertical metres over 239.6km (about 150 miles). I had hoped to complete all the myWhoosh courses/levels this year, but as of 3rd January…that’s one goal I’m already crossing off the list.
At 8,849m, Mount Everest stands at a coincidentally similar height. It’s great that myWhoosh supports the niche sport of Everesting, but do you know anyone who has completed this or plans to?
I guess I don’t see the point of virtual Everesting? What makes it different than just virtually riding for a certain amount of time and watts?
In real Everesting there is the element of finding the target hill, then navigating the ups and downs (figuratively and literally) of the course itself.
i agree
to get an everesting pb (even on zwift) you have to select a bowl to cycle up one side and then you go down and get soem free height up the other side. contineu to the top and repeat.
so who knows what it’s about other than cycling a lot
A key difference I find is that on Zwift you can gain all the height you require simply by doing workouts. I recently picked the 60min ride & set it on easy, to use as a recovery day, and then chose a hilly route I hadn’t done before, Mountain Mash. I was surprised to learn after I’d finished that my meters climbed total had gone up by the 530m I’d gained during the ride, even though I sat at 145w/kg for the majority of the session. It’s an easy way to get to the 50k of climbing to gain the Tron bike if you’re eager to get that ticked off, for some relatively easy climbing.
I know any workouts aren’t added to any totals when completed on MyWhoosh.
yes, i do simmilar thigns to that and it is a mild annoyance.
i sometimes want to do a striaghtforwrd workout of my own on a course (to complete the course). i have to set mywhoosh to use my pedals and then use my garmin/wahoo to control the smart trainer with the workout.
in mywhoosh you can set the effect of the hill to be less than reality. i always use 100%. however i would imagine if you set it lwoer it makes gettign those vertical KMs much easier and might explain why peopel were flying past me up a >10% hill yesterday!
It’s very likely tbh. I read an article yesterday about the levels of cheating, because that’s what it is, some people adopt to gain an advantage, even on online cycling. Everything from putting in false weight data to using motors or drills to turn your wheels faster, all in an effort to win a race. Seems a bit odd to me, but then again so does using the coffee breaks on Zwift, or any of those little helpers that pop up during rides. What’s the point? Surely you ride to better yourself & your fitness levels rather than than just beat a few people you’ll never meet🤯
