Ahotu and Strava Partner Up
Endurance sports event calendar Ahotu has integrated Strava’s interactive course routes into its platform.
The collaboration lets athletes view detailed race course information directly within Ahotu’s event listings. Athletes can explore terrain, elevation, and course layouts while toggling between map views. Routes can also be synced to devices for training and navigation.
Ahotu’s event calendar spans 28 endurance sports and includes filtering options to help athletes discover and register for races worldwide. Events featuring Strava course maps are now highlighted, offering additional insights for participants.
Our goal is to inspire athletes to explore events, whether they are experienced competitors or preparing for their first race. Integrating Strava’s route maps enables better race preparation by providing more detailed course insights. [C Melchert, CEO, Ahotu]
Ahotu now features over 1,600 events with Strava maps, including city marathons such as the London Marathon and the New York Marathon. More information about the partnership is available on Ahotu’s platform.
This collaboration follows Ahotu’s recent integration with Garmin Connect, announced in November 2023. That partnership enabled users to access Ahotu’s extensive event database directly through the Garmin Connect app. Athletes using Garmin devices can discover races, add them to their calendars, and access adaptive training plans tailored to their chosen events.
Take Out
The Garmin link-up was more than a one-off success for Ahotu; let’s hope we can get a consolidated site for all races. I’ve been approached here on this site by other apps hoping to do that, and it’s a harder task than you would think, with many disparate sources to integrate and update.
Down the line, the prize will be the AirBnd or Ticketmaster of races, offering many opportunities to profit from commissions on race entries, payments, listing fees, ancillary services, and much more.
