A Day Return to Garmin Please…Yes Really!

Garmin Metro Station Dubai naming rights concept mockup with London Underground style signage

Dubai’s RTA metro network has renamed a key Red Line stop on Sheikh Zayed Road to Garmin Metro Station. Located near the Al Manara junction, the station has built a local reputation for frequent name changes. Since opening as Noor Bank in 2010, it transitioned to Al Safa in 2020, ONPASSIVE in 2023, and now bears the name of the navigation and fitness tech brand.

The ten-year naming rights agreement was finalised through AMIT Retail, Garmin’s official UAE distributor. Passengers will see physical signage, mobile app updates, and onboard audio announcements updated between September and the end of November.

The accompanying concept image visualises the rebrand using iconic London Underground roundel signage rather than Dubai Metro graphics.

This change replaces a short-lived deal with an artificial intelligence firm and hands the ten-year lease to an established global GPS vendor.
