Ultrahuman has told the5krunner that Ring Pro stays on sale in the United States and that it will contest Oura’s new patent complaint, in a statement from chief executive Mohit Kumar.
- Kumar says the filing does not restrict the manufacture, distribution, or sale of Ring Pro, and that no injunction has been entered against it. Retail plans and operations are unchanged.
- He points to the ruling US Customs and Border Protection issued in March 2026, which placed the redesigned ring outside the scope of the exclusion order covering the Oura patent considered in the earlier ITC proceeding.
- Ultrahuman calls Ring Pro a substantially redesigned generation of its technology, built around the titanium unibody that its customs submission turned on.
- Oura’s complaint asserts two different patents, design patent D804,471 and utility patent 12,769,363. The utility patent was issued on 20 October 2026, two days before the complaint was filed.
- Kumar says Ultrahuman will “address Oura’s newly asserted claims through the appropriate legal process” and defend its position, and that none of the claims have been decided by a court.
- Oura’s position is that the customs ruling dealt only with the patent at issue in the earlier dispute, so it says nothing about the two patents now asserted.
What it means
Both companies are reading the same customs ruling and reaching opposite conclusions, because it answered a narrower question than either side’s wording suggests. It cleared the redesigned ring against one Oura patent. Oura is now suing on two others, one of them two days old when the case was filed, and a US court has not tested either.
Nothing changes for athletes buying now. Ring Pro ships in the US, and the earlier import ban on the Ultrahuman Ring Air took effect only after a full ITC ruling, which took over a year. Oura Ring 5 is not part of the dispute, and the best recovery tracker guide covers the other options.
Quick answers
Is Ultrahuman Ring Pro still on sale in the US?
Yes. Ultrahuman says no injunction has been entered against Ring Pro and that its US retail plans are unchanged.
Does the US Customs ruling cover Oura's new claims?
No. The March 2026 ruling considered the Oura patent from the earlier ITC proceeding. Oura’s new complaint asserts two different patents.
When was Oura's newest patent issued?
Utility patent 12,769,363 was issued on 20 October 2026, two days before Oura filed the complaint.
Earlier rulings in smart ring disputes are tracked in Legal Files. Ultrahuman’s own product page for Ring Pro sets out the unibody design at the centre of the argument.
