Expert opinion

The Rider S810 is best suited to serious road cyclists, endurance riders and touring cyclists who prioritise a large navigation display, advanced climbing features and long battery life.

It combines preloaded maps, turn-by-turn guidance, route recalculation through the phone, route reversal, retracing, Explore mode and Climb Challenge 2.0, which shows climbing information without a preloaded route. It also supports Strava Live Segments, planned and advanced workouts, virtual rides, live tracking, group ride and chat, and smart notifications. The Bryton Active app handles route planning, data screens, activity analysis and automatic sync with Strava, TrainingPeaks, Komoot, Relive and Ride with GPS. The 3.5-inch colour touchscreen adjusts its backlight automatically and the unit weighs 116g. ANT+ connects heart-rate, speed, cadence and power sensors, radar, lights, electronic shifting, ANT+ FE-C smart trainers and Shimano STEPS and ANT+ LEV e-bikes, with Bluetooth for heart rate. Battery life is rated at up to 50 hours.

The S810’s defining advantages are its larger display, extensive navigation and long claimed battery life, while the day-to-day experience depends partly on software stability and the Bryton Active app.
