Expert opinion

The Watch 6 Pro is where the Watch 5’s premium material tier actually went, not disappeared, moved up a price bracket. The 46mm case comes in titanium alloy across three finishes, Space Edition, Silver and Brown, with the Space Edition specifically thicker at 11.4mm and heavier at approximately 60g than the other two. The 43mm is Huawei’s first fully ceramic watch, nano-tech ceramic across both case and strap in the Ceramic Edition, or ceramic case with a white composite strap in the White variant. Several outlets reported 18K gold accents on the ceramic edition; Huawei’s own specification page makes no mention of gold anywhere, so that detail remains unconfirmed by the manufacturer directly.

Sensors, GNSS, connectivity and battery life are all identical to the standard Watch 6: the same 12-channel X-TAP sensor Huawei states doubles responsiveness versus the Watch 5, the same three opt-in health-risk studies via the HUAWEI Research app, the same 5 ATM/IP69/40m EN13319 water resistance, and the same battery figures size for size. The Pro’s real additions are Expedition mode, a route pre-loading and waypoint navigation feature not on the standard Watch 6, and the premium case materials themselves.

What’s new versus the Watch 5

Hardware

  • Case material returns to titanium alloy (46mm) or moves to an all-new nano-tech ceramic (43mm), Huawei’s first fully ceramic watch, both replacing the Watch 5’s titanium/ceramic or stainless steel/ceramic tiers with a simpler two-material structure
  • The Space Edition is a distinct 46mm variant at 11.4mm thick and approximately 60g, versus 10.9mm and approximately 57g for the standard Silver and Brown 46mm models
  • Peak brightness rises to 3,500 nits
  • NearLink connectivity and dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz WLAN are added

Software

  • Expedition mode is added: route pre-loading, a flashlight function, and smart backtracking with waypoint navigation, not available on the Watch 5
  • X-TAP moves to a 12-channel PPG sensor, which Huawei states doubles responsiveness versus the Watch 5
  • Health Glance is confirmed at 14 metrics across four bodily systems, up from an unstated count on the Watch 5’s specification page
  • Coronary heart disease, diabetes risk, and hypertension risk studies are added as opt-in programmes via the HUAWEI Research app. None of these three appear on the Watch 5’s specification page
  • Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis is confirmed, named directly in Huawei’s battery test conditions

Battery life

Battery life is identical to the standard Watch 6 at matching case size. The 43mm reaches 3 days typical use in Standard mode (2 days with always-on display), rising to 5 days typical use in Battery saver mode (7 days light use, 3 days with always-on display). The 46mm reaches 4.5 days typical use in Standard mode (3 days with always-on display), rising to 7 days typical use in Battery saver mode (11 days light use, 4.5 days with always-on display), the same across all three 46mm variants including the thicker, heavier Space Edition. Battery saver mode disables WLAN, Celia, smart gestures, Health Glance, HUAWEI Research, voice notes, online music, Maps, Watch AppGallery, and X-TAP interaction. A 15-minute charge via the included wireless charger covers a full day of typical use.
