2020: Major Events & Qualifiers – BTF, British Triathlon, Duathlon

Almost all of the Triathlon & Duathlon qualifiers and major events taking part in 2020 have just been announced. This also includes the Welsh, Scottish and English ‘Home Nations’ Championships.

I’m very excited from a personal perspective as I’m going up a year and currently not injured. #MedalChance. Although my target race is definitely NOT where I wanted it to be grrr 🙁

Some points to note

• All qualifiers are for ITU and ETU Championships taking place in 2021. So if you are 34 on December 31st 2020 you could qualify for a 2021 championship in the 35-39 age group in Spring of 2020 when you are 33yo!
  
• Standards in many age groups are now very high and even though you ‘only’ need qualification times of less than 115% (ITU) or 120% (ETU) the reality is that you could get faster than 105% and still not qualify.
• ETU Championships events are not usually announced until the year they are held (2021). So you could well be qualifying for an event that is MUCH further away than you bargained on
• Draft Legal events do what they say on the tin. However, as a rule of thumb, you CANNOT use tri-bars and disc wheels in these events.
• Home Nations Championships are usually over 10 year age groupings…not 5. Just sayin’…no easy medals 😉
