Favero Assioma Beats Garmin Again As Pro RS Gets Massive 167% Battery Increase
Favero just more than doubled the battery life of its Pro RS and Pro MX power meter pedals with a firmware update. Battery life jumps from 60 hours to a whopping 160 hours—a 3-minute update that catapults Favero past Garmin’s Rally pedals (90 hours) on one of the last spec items where Garmin held an edge.

What Changed
The update appears to be pure software optimisation—cleaning up code inefficiencies and tweaking the algorithm without touching hardware. A separate note from dscrainmaker confirmed that signal strength was not impacted – a possible victim of any brands’ batter boot ing measures. .testing showed no meaningful drop in transmission performance, with Bluetooth readings essentially identical before and after the update.

Battery Increase In Numbers
- From: 60 hours
- To: 160 hours
- Increase: 100 hours (167% increase, or 2.67x the original)
Comparison to Garmin:
- Garmin Rally x10 series: 90 hours
- Favero Pro RS/MX (after update): 160 hours
- Favero now has 70 more hours than Garmin (78% more battery life)

Testing So Far
I use Assioma Pro RX as my primary pedals. They’re great. A quick bike test last night showed no difference in accuracy.
Why This Matters
Changing or charging any electrical sports device is a faff. The longer the battery life, the less we have to do it, and the lower the risk of running out of battery at a key moment.
Accuracy and precision of key performance metrics liek cycling power, are a must-have. So efficiency changes must not impact those at all.
The Competitive Picture
Aside from a LOOK/KEO pedal cleat option, there is no need to buy Garmin Rally. Favero performs the same or better across all metrics, with prices notably lower.
