Garmin World Cup Watch Face: Live Scores on Your Wrist

Garmin World Cup watch face: live scores, standings and bracket on the wrist

The tournament is running, and so, probably, are you. WC2026 Live Pro is a free Connect IQ watch face that turns a Garmin into a live World Cup scoreboard: match scores update during play, group standings refresh automatically, and the knockout bracket fills in as teams advance. No app to open, no notification to chase. Raise your wrist to check live scores.

The face comes from GR_apps, an independent developer with no affiliation with FIFA. It launched on 5 June, ready for the opening matches, and has already reached version 2.0.5 with fixes for local time zone display in match and day views.

What it shows

The upper half of the face is given over to football. The day’s fixtures appear with kickoff times in your local time zone and national flags for all 48 teams (round or rounded square, your choice). Pick a favourite team in the Connect IQ settings, and a gold star marks its row, with its next fixture always visible even on days it does not play. Group standings show points and goal difference. During live matches, the face displays the current score, the minute played and a progress arc.

The lower half keeps the watch useful as a watch: time (in one of three clock fonts), date, temperature and two customisable complications drawn from steps, heart rate, battery, calories or distance. Stadium backgrounds and accent colours round out the cosmetics.

AMOLED and MIP

The face is optimised for AMOLED displays with dark and light theme options (Spotlight, Lights, Sky, Stadium). MIP watches get black or sky-blue backgrounds with text that adapts automatically. The always-on display shows the day’s match schedule without waking the screen.

Battery and permissions

The face runs in the background and polls the internet for score data. Garmin’s own permission disclosure confirms it requires background execution and internet access, so expect some battery cost on match days. The listing also requests access to heart rate, barometer, temperature and altitude history for the complication data.

Where to get it

WC2026 Live Pro is free in the Connect IQ store. It runs on any Connect IQ-compatible Garmin, including the Approach S70 (added in v2.0.4). The developer funds it through donations via Buy Me a Coffee.

FAQ

Is WC2026 Live Pro an official FIFA watch face?

No. It is an independent app using national flags for informational purposes. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any football organisation.

Does WC2026 Live Pro cost anything?

The face is free. The developer accepts voluntary donations.

Will it drain my Garmin’s battery?

It runs in the background and polls the internet for live data, so some additional battery drain on match days is likely. How much depends on the watch model and how many matches fall on a given day.

My favourite kit and nutrition

  • Injinji – Runners protect your toes. Avoid discomfort and minor injury. Run more. run faster. I use them.
  • Garmin 90-degree charging adapter — the small adapter that keeps your charging cable tidy at the stem. Essential for race day. I use one.
  • Garmin charging puck — the fastest and most reliable way to top up your Garmin before a session. I use one.
  • Ravemen FR300 — front light that mounts directly under your Garmin or Wahoo head unit. Keeps your bars clean and your beam pointed where it matters. I use one.
  • Body Glide – The Blue anti-chafe stick that all swimmers and many runners use. I use it.
  • Maurten — the race nutrition trusted by elite athletes. Gels and drink mix engineered to be easy on the stomach. I use them.
  • Garmin Varia RTL515 — radar rear light that alerts you to vehicles approaching from behind. Pairs with your Edge or Garmin watch. I use this model.
  • Favero Assioma Pro RS2 — the power meter pedals most serious cyclists end up choosing. Accurate, easy to move between bikes. I use this model.
