Strava subscribers in the US can now connect their account to Google Gemini and ask questions about their own training history, following the Claude connection Strava launched earlier.
- Strava announced the Gemini integration on 28 October 2026, and it is rolling out in the US first.
- It requires a Strava subscription but works with every Gemini plan.
- Gemini can answer questions such as whether a runner is getting faster at the same heart rate, how strength training is affecting running, and how the last race played out mile by mile.
- A new set of queries compares best efforts, such as this year’s fastest 10K against an all-time best, and tracks current and longest activity streaks by sport.
- Gemini can now access temperature, humidity, and wind recorded with each activity, so it can estimate how much the heat slowed a long run.
- The connection is optional and read-only, and it can be removed at any time.
What it means for athletes
A runner or rider who already lives in Gemini can now ask it to dig through months of Strava activities instead of scrolling the feed, for example, to check whether easy-run pace has improved at the same heart rate, or whether a slow Saturday long run was down to the weather. Gemini only reads the data, so it cannot edit activities or change the account.
Strava now offers the same kind of link to two of the main AI assistants, making the subscription more useful for athletes who want to question their training in plain language. Outside the US, there is no date yet.
Quick answers
How do I connect Strava to Gemini?
Open Personal Intelligence in Gemini, choose Strava under connected apps, sign in with your Strava account and authorise the connection. It needs a Strava subscription and is rolling out in the US first.
Can Gemini change my Strava activities?
No. Strava says the connection is read-only, so Gemini can read your activity history but cannot edit it, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Strava added a similar Claude connection in its September update. For the bigger picture, read Has Strava signed its own death warrant?, see how Runalyze opened its data with an MCP server, compare the Fitbit Gemini AI coach, decide between Runna and Strava, or browse the Strava hub.
