FIRST PICTURES: Garmin Forerunner 245 Music & Garmin Forerunner 245

NB: This might be the 945 rather than the 245..am getting clarification

So here we have the first images of the Garmin Forerunner 245, actually, it’s the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music. This is listed as the Forerunner 245 Music and there is another listing for the non-music version

It looks identical to my 935 and even the strap looks the same, except:

  1. The images further below show that it clearly has the new ELEVATE module that we saw on the MARQ.
  2. The start/stop button has a red colouration (this is on the 935 NOW in APAC versions although not in the red colur shown)
  3. (edit:) FR645 is 42.5 x 42.5 x 13.5 mm case with a 30.4mm dia display, unsurprisingly the FR245 looks to be the size of the FR645

I would not expect a formal announcement until mid-April at earliest

It also looks certain that the Garmin Forerunner 945 is due for either April or May too. With the Edge 830 being either May or June.

NB: This might be the 945 rather than the 245..am getting clarification

This, below, *IS* the 245 for sure.

@Phoner also gives sources that list these colours for the 245: all black, black/aqua, black/red, white/black, all white, all blue, black/slate, black/merlot, black/solar flare. There seem to be more colour variations for the 245 Music (not shown on image to right)

Is that thicker than the 935, or just difficult to tell in the photos? Looks chunky.

With a diameter of about 42 mm it’s far smaller than the FR935 at 47 mm.

Do you know the GPS Chip-set used on the S40 golf watch? Looks like that watch is closer to the size of the VA3/235 (11.7 mm thick) vs. the 645 (13.5 mm thick), while still having 10 days batter life / 15 hours GPS Still hoping the 245 will be closer to that form factor (with the additional 4 buttons) than the 645.

Well, we’re gonna find out fairly soon if they are just doing one or multiple watches to offset the base waiting for a reasonable update this year. The MARQ is a segment test of internal hardware while introducing more FIRSTBEAT METRICS and the potential Forerunner redux is the greater sector test for the same thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if these function nearly identical to the MARQ but with far less storage (prob 16g at most) and the light, plastic’ish body typically found in the Forerunner line.

Both of these might just end up being stepstone devices for a breakout device next year with the Fenix 6 line. That’s just my opinion on the status of these devices.

You need to be more explicit with your credits. For example, those images are from gadgetsandwearables.com – link to the actual articles. Also, for twitter handles, link out to the actual tweets (or if there isn’t one, the users profile page).

I know this is nitpicking, but I feel like you are very fast and loose with crediting other people on content. I do enjoy your site, but that doesn’t seem respectful or constructive to your peers (to quasi- hide or bury credits).

I do this for a living, but crediting other’s work isn’t universal and handled differently by country. What passes in the U.S isn’t the same for those in the U.K and might not even cross their mind that they are doing wrong because, well it’s not to their perspective.

It’s maddening to deal with in practice and wish there was more of a baseline rule set, but it’s never going to happen. I don’t think TFK is doing wrong with intent to steal which is why I’ve never brought it up, but then again they do have readers from around the world that will take it as stealing info without crediting the source.

it’s a fine line, but you’re also dealing with the internet where everything that’s not proverbially nailed down is stolen.
