Stryd offline sync update: No more duplicate runs

stryd offline sync live

Stryd offline sync update ends duplicate runs.

Stryd has updated its offline sync to remove duplicate run uploads.

Plus, for Stryd Duo owners running COROS, Suunto, or Polar watches, there is an additional ability to merge balance (dual-sided) metrics directly into the watch activity. The update went live on 28 July 2026.

Why runners have wanted this for years

Previously, there were only manual methods to merge the data by building a combined .tcx file, but even then, syncing the merged file to TrainingPeaks might not always work, and other native fields like Recovery Time could be lost when sending to GoldenCheetah or when sending manually to TrainingPeaks.

What changes in the sync flow

Every run synced from the pod now lands in a new Review Synced Runs screen with a match percentage and a recommended action covering:

  • New Run: no matching watch activity exists, so the pod data saves as a new activity.
  • Duplicate: a matching activity with complete metrics already exists, so that the pod data can be discarded.
  • Mergable: a matching watch activity is missing Stryd metrics, so the two combine into one activity.
  • Needs Review: Stryd could not confidently match the run, so the runner chooses the action manually.

Duo balance metrics merge into the watch activity.

The merge action has a bigger impact for Stryd Duo owners, where those with a COROS, Suunto, or Polar watch get Duo balance data written into the regular activity. After a merge, the combined activity includes:

Note: Garmin watches already contain merged Stryd Duo data in each activity. This update aligns COROS, Suunto, and Polar owners with that.

Getting the update

The new sync flow requires the Stryd app on at least version 9.1.16-82075 on iOS, or 9.1.110-901899 on Android. Sync to the app as normal afterwards.

Stryd’s own support guide covers the sync process in more detail: Offline Sync: Uploading Pod Memory to the Stryd Mobile App.

Quick answers

What does Stryd's offline sync update change?
It matches pod-stored runs against watch activities automatically, assigns a match badge and recommended action to each, and merges Stryd Duo balance metrics into the watch activity where COROS, Suunto, or Polar watches are involved.

Why did Stryd's offline sync cause duplicate runs before this update?
A manual pod sync could upload a second, separate activity alongside the one already saved from the watch, leaving two incomplete records of the same run rather than one complete one.

Which watches support Stryd Duo metric merging?
COROS, Suunto, and Polar watches now support the merge. Garmin already supported combined Duo data in a single activity before this update.

Which Stryd app version do I need for the new offline sync?
iOS requires version 9.1.16-82075 or later. Android requires version 9.1.110-901899 or later.
