Strava Live Segments for Amazfit, but not Garmin FR570

Amazfit’s flagship watches get Strava Live Segments in November, according to Zepp Health’s updated software roadmap. Garmin keeps the same feature off Forerunner 570. Balance 2, Balance XT and Active Max follow in December, and you will need a paid Strava subscription.

What Strava Live Segments does

Your watch alerts you as you approach a segment you have starred in Strava, shows whether you are ahead of or behind your PR or the segment leader, and gives a result at the finish. Only running and riding segments sync, downhill segments never do, and on-watch times are provisional until upload, according to Strava’s compatible devices page.

Which Amazfit watches get it, and when

Amazfit watch Strava Live Segments
Active 3 Premium, Balance 3, Balance Ultra, Cheetah 2 Pro, Cheetah 2 Ultra, T-Rex 3, T-Rex 3 Pro, T-Rex Ultra 2 November 2026
Balance 2, Balance XT, Active Max December 2026
Bip Max, Active 2, Bip 6, Balance (original), T-Rex Dual Solar Not listed

Amazfit hasn’t said whether its version covers running as well as riding, how many segments the watches store, or how the in-segment pacing works. Runners who want it first should look at Cheetah 2 Ultra or Cheetah 2 Pro.

How Amazfit compares

Most rival brands already support Live Segments on at least some models:

  • Garmin reserves it for Forerunner 970 and higher-end watches such as Fenix, Epix and Enduro, leaving Forerunner 570 and the Forerunner 2xx range without it.
  • COROS lists support for Pace 3, Pace Pro, Apex 2, Vertix 2 and Dura, but not Pace 4.
  • Polar and Suunto offer it across their current multisport watches.
  • Apple Watch gets it through Strava’s own watch app, where free users see only whether they are ahead or behind, according to Strava’s help page.

From December, a $169 Active Max will do something a Forerunner 570 can’t.

Is it worth having?

In my experience, few runners use Live Segments, and most cyclists use a bike computer rather than a watch. The feature’s real value is competitive, because Amazfit now matches Garmin, COROS and Polar on one more item buyers compare.

  1. FYI: when I owned Garmin Fenix 7, downhill running segments did syns and work despite the official Strava position denying that. I no longer have a Garmin watch so can no verify if that is the case. Just to be clear, only downhill running segments worked but not downhill cycling segments.
