Garmin launched the Edge 1060 on 20 October 2026 at £699.99 / $799.99, with orders opening on 23 October. It is the first Edge with a microphone, so a rider can change route, ask for a number or report a pothole without taking a hand off the bars.
That is $100 above the launch price of Edge 1050, and £50 more in the UK. The full specification is on the Edge 1060 specification page, and the device matches the regulatory filing this site reported in June.
What voice control does
A rider says “Okay, Garmin” and then speaks a command. Garmin gives “Report a pothole”, “Route me to the closest coffee shop” and “What is my heart rate?” as examples. Edge changes the screen, reads the requested figure aloud or offers a route.
The speaker does more than prompt. Incoming Garmin Messenger messages are played out loud, voice replies go back from the device, and the digital bike bell sounds through the same speaker. Garmin says voice commands work in selected languages and that performance varies with riding conditions, which on a road bike at speed means wind and road noise.

Garmin's flagship bike computer. Change route, check your heart rate or report a pothole by voice, with both hands on the bars.
Routing that tells you what is coming
Route Options offers several ways to a destination and separates them by ride time, elevation and bike type. Route Previews show distance, estimated ride time, traffic, and reported hazards so that you can reject a potentially troublesome route at the start rather than 20km in.
Road closures now join the community hazard reports that already cover potholes, obstructions, and aggressive animals, and riders can add a hazard by voice while moving. Free Flow Routing looks for roads with the fewest stops, junctions, and slow sections, aimed at training rides where an interval keeps being broken by traffic lights.
Up Ahead lists the cafes, water and toilets on a loaded course.
Training and ride connectivity
Garmin Cycling Coach plans are free and adapt to performance, recovery, and the demands of a course. Riders who use TrainingPeaks now get their plan workouts sent to the device automatically, the clearest sign yet that Garmin is putting its TrainingPeaks purchase to work inside the hardware.
GroupRide gains detection, so Edge offers to join an active session it finds nearby instead of making someone type a code. The workout screen is interactive, with upcoming steps and a zoom on the whole session, and you can rearrange the home screen so the apps a rider actually uses sit at the front. Reverse charging will put some charge into a Varia light or a phone, although Garmin says it is not meant to run while riding.

What has not changed
Battery life is unchanged, and so are the screen, multi-band GNSS, sensors, and 64GB of storage. Riders who want days between charges are still looking at the Edge 1040 Solar, which Garmin rates at 45 hours of demanding use and keeps on sale for that reason.
Edge 1060 is a lighter, smaller 1050 that listens, and the Edge 1060 vs Edge 1050 comparison sets out what the extra money buys line by line. Whether the voice features justify the extra cost will depend on how well the microphone copes at 40 km/h in traffic, which is the first thing to test.

Quick answers
How much does Garmin Edge 1060 cost?
The Edge 1060 costs £699.99 in the UK, $799.99 in the US, and €799.99 in the eurozone. That is $100 more than the Edge 1050 cost at launch.
When can you buy Garmin Edge 1060?
Garmin announced it on 20 October 2026 and says orders open on 23 October. Garmin’s US release describes it as available now.
Does Edge 1060 have better battery life than Edge 1050?
No. Both are rated at up to 20 hours of demanding use and up to 60 hours in battery saver mode. The Edge 1040 Solar remains the long-distance choice, with up to 45 hours.
Does voice control need a phone?
Garmin lists the messaging and road hazard features as needing a paired smartphone and the Garmin Connect app. It has not said which spoken commands work with no phone present.
Will Garmin Edge 1050 get voice control?
It cannot. The Edge 1050 has a speaker but no microphone, so it can’t hear a command. Garmin has not said whether any other Edge 1060 features will be added via firmware.
