Coros December 2025 Update: Voice Notes and Media Controls for Pace, Apex and Nomad
Coros has released its final major software update of 2025, bringing several highly requested features to its latest-generation watches. The December rollout focuses on expanding the capabilities of the new Pace 4, Apex 4 and Nomad models, while also trickling down key improvements to the Pace Pro and older Apex 2 and Vertix 2 series.

The update introduces native media controls, move alerts, and a clever voice-to-text journaling feature for post-workout reviews.
It’s a biggie.
Media Controls and Voice Training Notes
The standout addition for the newer hardware is the ability to manage audio and log workout feelings via voice.
Native Media Controls

Athletes can now pause, play, and skip audio directly from the watch. For the Pace 4, Apex 4, and Nomad, these controls are accessible via a simple swipe or the Action Button during an activity. Other models can access the feature through the Toolbox (long-press the Back button).
Voice Training Notes and RPE
Exclusively for the Nomad, Apex 4, and Pace 4, the watch now prompts the athlete to record a voice note and select an RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) after a workout. These audio notes are automatically transcribed to text within the Coros app summary, allowing the watch owner to capture immediate feedback for themselves or their coach.

Performance Data and Lap Screen Overhaul
Coros has significantly cleaned up the lap data screen to make real-time racing and interval data more intuitive.
Improved Lap Screen Logic
The lap screen now stays visible for a few extra seconds and includes total activity time. A major quality-of-life update is the ability to undo an accidental lap press by clicking the Back button. Furthermore, when using automatic distance laps, the watch will now replace the redundant lap pace field with lap heart rate, providing more meaningful data at a glance.

New Personal Records and Power Curves
The update adds specific personal records for cycling, including longest ride and best average power across various durations (1 minute to 60 minutes). For runners, longest run and total elevation gain PRs are now tracked. Cycling fans also gain a Maximum Mean Power (MMP) Curve on the FTP page, displaying historic bests against recent efforts.
Health Monitoring and System Refinements
Move Alerts and Ambient Temperature
A new Move Alert feature provides a gentle vibration to remind the watch owner to stretch or walk if they have been stationary for too long. Additionally, a new Temperature Widget allows the athlete to check the ambient temperature (though the watch must be removed from the wrist for an accurate reading).

Navigation and Camera Control
Map detail has been enhanced for the Apex 2 and Vertix 2 series, with better colour coding to distinguish roads from trails. For those using action cameras, the watch can now control the DJI Action 4 and 5 Pro directly.
Device Compatibility Matrix
Not every watch receives every feature. Here is a breakdown of the core support:
- Full Support (Media, Move Alerts, Laps, Voice, Temp): Pace 4, Apex 4, Nomad.
- Partial Support (No Voice Notes): Pace Pro, Pace 3, Apex 2 / 2 Pro, Vertix 2 / 2S.
- Legacy Support (Cycling PRs only): Pace 2, Apex Pro, Vertix 1, Apex 42/46mm.

Still waiting for Climb Pro Coros version, but I have to say with all the bugs my Suunto and Garmin have had, the Coros has been rock solid in the last 6 months. It is a no nonsense no drama training machine.
Oh and I never thought I would use voice notes, but I did at the end of a run and it was really really nice to have that to look at later. So many times I have a thought about my workout or workout workflow during a run and after getting home forget about it until the next time I am out doing a workout again. This was a great reminder.
