Charlotte Arter delivered an awesome 15 minutes 49 seconds at Cardiff parkrun and broke her own parkrun world record to boot.

Here is Charlotte’s result: links to parkrun.org.uk

And in more detail, this is her parkrun athlete profile: links to parkrun.org.uk. Tip: If you want to see your own stats one way to do it is to simply change the number on the end of the parkrun url to your own…or click the link in the email they send you on Saturday morning 😉

Those of you with a wider interest in running will also know that Charlotte is an international athlete having competed for GB and you can see her impressive competitive stats here (links to thepowerofone10)

Looking wider at 5k records; an athlete local athlete, Andy Baddeley, is the parkrun world-record holder achieving his feat at Bushy Parkrun (13:48) and I occasionally run with him around Bushy Park. err…ok, let me rephrase that, ‘He occasionally runs past me in Bushy Park during the week”. I seem to remember Andy was also a pacer at the Sub2 hour Nike world record event.

The world record for any 5k anywhere is held by Kenenisa Bekele (ETH) at 12:37.35 and part of the gap to parkrun times is due to the speedier nature of a running track. So if YOU want a 5K PB then just get down to your local track and run one, many of them will let you use it for a few pounds in off-peak hours and don’t forget to prove what you’ve done on STRAVA.
