Josh KERR (GB) Destroys Mo Farah’s 2-Mile World Record
Mo Farah‘s near decade-old 2-mile indoor record from 2015 (Birmingham, UK) has just fallen to his compatriot Josh Kerr. The time was tantalisingly just 0.67 seconds over the eight-minute ‘barrier’. It can’t be too hard right? All you have to do is two consecutive 4-minute miles (yikes!)
However Kerr’s awesome achievement is dwarfed by Ingebrigtsen’s outdoor record which is a full 7 seconds faster still.
Exciting times await both runners as the Paris 2024 Olympics gets closer by the day. Whilst we won’t see a 2-mile race at the Olympics we should see both these athletes in action.
How do you think indoor compares to outdoor? Much tighter bends on the indoor 200m track must make quite a difference.. but 7s over 2 miles?
surface type, air conditions and quality of runner must also make a difference as must the radius of the bend and any angle of the track
I’m glad the 2mile is getting some attention. Moreover, track analysts also believe the 3000m 1.86miles outdoor 720 ish has more weight than other distance world records, Also, the fact that a sub 8 2mile is 2x sub4 minute miles back to back . FINALLY, In indoor track it 15to16 sub 30 200m in a row.In closing, the 2mile can also carry a 3000m en route
