These three Garmin products could launch as soon as next month

Garmin product launches so far in 2025 could be classed as typical, with the Instinct 3 adventure watch, HRM 200 chest strap and some minor software tweaks, fixes and refinements. However, as February and March approach, three major Garmin products are expected to launch, targeting different segments of adventurers, pilots, and mariners.

Regular updates: Here

Tactix 8

If Garmin follows release cycles from previous years, the first release will be the Garmin Tactix 8, which could launch as soon as next week (11 Feb 2025). The Tactix series is Garmin’s high-end tactical smartwatch lineup, designed for military personnel. While details have not yet been leaked, the Tactix 8 is expected to match new developments to the Fenix 8 series, such as improved solar charging and slightly enhanced tactical features over the Fenix 8.

The previous Tactix 7 offered an impressive feature set with a rugged build, stealth mode, and applied ballistics for long-range shooting. With the Tactix 8 in 2025, Garmin will likely focus most of its efforts on smart features like voice control and improvements to the case.

D2 Mach (2)

For pilots, Garmin’s aviation-focused D2 Mach series is expected to receive an update in March 2025. The new D2 Mach will retain its AMOLED display and premium titanium build while bringing refinements to real-time flight tracking, weather integration, and possibly improved battery life.

The current D2 Mach 1 Pro has direct-to-navigation capabilities, METAR/TAF aviation weather reports, and a global airport database. Garmin may further enhance avionics connectivity and expand its flight-logging capabilities, likely linking with its new FitPlan SMS service.

Quatix 8

Garmin’s marine-focused Quatix lineup is also due for an update with the Quatix 8. Targeted at boaters, sailors, and sport fishermen, this watch typically builds on the latest Fenix platform while adding marine-specific integrations. The Quatix 7 Pro already offered connectivity with Garmin chart plotters (there were 9.8 million chart updates to these last year), autopilot control with Active Captain, and tide data. Hence, the Quatix 8 will likely see general improvements in all Fenix watches and onboard connectivity.

With Garmin’s increasing focus on AMOLED displays and solar charging, the Quatix 8 may come in multiple versions, including a solar edition for extended use at sea. Garmin also recently bought a marine lighting company, so expect updates on connectivity with lights in years to come.

Take Out

These are all routine updates to Garmin’s generic Fenix watch platform, each with segment-specific tweaks.

Beyond these three watches, Garmin is also working on new additions to the Forerunner and Edge ranges. Expect these to hit the shelves in Q2 – first with the Forerunner 975 followed by the Edge 850.
