new Garmin ComingUp App – new smart features for your Garmin
More: Get ComingUp at the CIQ Store
Garmin recently and quietly launched its new ToDo app – ComingUp. This brings the convenience of wrist-based todo management for those of you who use ToDoist, Google Tasks or Microsoft to Do. Well, it brings convenience to those who use Google Tasks because the other two just don’t work, at least not via the iOS version of Connect. More Garmin bugs and half-baked software…sorry.
How it works
You can easily create a Todo item on your Garmin watch or the app on your smartphone/computer. Garmin Connect synchronises the list; it’s the same principle when a toDo item is marked as complete.
New Garmin Keyboard – Instant Keyboard
The ComingUp app uses the newish Garmin keyboard on the Forerunner 965 and probably on your watch if you have a recent model. I think it’s relatively recently released and is a massive improvement on the old keyboard mechanism on the watch, which was dire/awful. It works quite well with a touchscreen and also pops up an alternative keyboard on your smartphone if you have the connect app open – handy if you want to type in something a little more complicated.
Key Features
- Seamless real-time updates if your Watch is linked to Connect by Bluetooth
- Add, edit, and organize items directly from your wrist.
- Get notified with timely reminders
- Easy interface
- Access as an app, meaning: it will appear in the same list as your sports profiles. (top right button)
Take Out
Garmin is slowly filling the gaps in its smart feature portfolio; ToDo management and a decent keyboard are just two examples of relatively straightforward gaps being addressed. Haptics, Gesture control and Voice control are all ‘works in progress’ and are more difficult to implement properly.

It’s starting to get ridiculous imho. Physical features are getting dumbed down (eg. Threshold test) and we get secondary (tertiary?) features that are not that relevant training wise.
Anyway I’m sure there’s always someone that disagrees and this is like sliced bread for them…
I think Garmin *HAS* to introduce these types of features and be an ever-more smart watch. Polar, Suunto…everyone else has realised the same thing.
I suppose the interesting angle would be: how many resources do Garmin allocate to new sports fetures vs new smart features. just look at how long it took to get daily suggested workouts for sports types to include STRENGTH – must have been FOUR (4) years! You would have thought it should be more important than that
Why wouldn’t Garmin add calorie intake app instead. Its annoying to go back and forth from one app to another.
Microsoft ToDo is working just fine for me on iOS.
It once needs to be logged in like the other services and that’s it.
Even if it is part of Microsoft, it is not enough to connect Garmin Connect to Microsoft 365, you need to separately log in after you started it from the watch.
I just followed the instructions. Didn’t have enough time to trouble shoot
thank you for adding the info to help others
